2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Prices, Reviews and Specifications

First, the basics. The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor is available exclusively with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that produces 418 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.

People have wanted a 2023 ford Bronco Raptor ever since the new Bronco was announced in 2020. They wanted it to be like the now-legendary F-150 Raptor in that it would destroy the desert. At least on paper, the Bronco Raptor seems to be almost exactly what everyone wanted. But does an SUV so focused on off-road performance really work as a daily driver?

Even though this engine is smaller and less powerful than the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the F-150 Raptor, the Bronco is smaller and lighter. The 3.0-liter V6 is only available with a 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive with a high and low range that can be turned on and off when needed.

2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Pricing

The only way to get a Bronco Raptor is with four doors, and there is only one trim level. Standard equipment includes a strong Eco Boost V6 engine, a strong drivetrain with a 10-speed automatic and 4.7 axle ratio, and all the off-roading gear this flare-fender machine needs to be a master off-roader.

A powerful B&O sound system with 10 speakers and a subwoofer comes as standard. Buyers can choose to get rid of the subwoofer and downgrade to a system with less features or fewer speakers. Depending on what they choose, they will get a credit of $100 to $665.

We would choose to keep the better sound system so we can listen to music when we’re not speeding through sand dunes or slogging through mud bogs. We’d also keep the standard vinyl-covered seats and rubberized flooring because they make it much easier to clean the inside of the car.

Overview

There are a lot of options if you want a badass vehicle that can go off-road in the most extreme ways. The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor, which won the 10Best award, is a great one. It is an off-road predator that beefs up the already-capable Bronco SUV with a strong EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6, a flexible four-wheel-drive system, a suspension with Fox dampers that can handle any terrain, huge 37-inch tires with deep treads, and lots of skid plates.

The Raptorized Bronco can also pull up to 4,500 pounds and can speed up from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than six seconds. It’s not the most comfortable highway cruiser, but it’s not meant to be. This Ford is for serious off-roaders who see the world as a huge, sandy, rock-filled playground waiting to be explored.

Base  $31,000

Outer Banks  $41,000

What’s New for 2023?

For the 2023 model year, the only changes to the Bronco Raptor are a new exterior color called Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat and new stereo options for people who don’t need the 10-speaker B&O system.

The engine, the transmission, and how it works

The Bronco Raptor doesn’t have a V-8, but it does have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with 418 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. The engine only works with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an advanced four-wheel-drive system with selectable “Goes Over Any Terrain” (G.O.A.T.) modes.

The suspension on the Bronco Raptor is even stronger than on the regular model, so it can handle driving over sand dunes or jumping through the air better. It also has a much wider track that is set up for better stability at high speeds. The Raptorized Bronco comes with 37-inch BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires and Fox adaptive dampers from the F-150 Raptor. It can also pull up to 4500 pounds.

During our first test drive, we were impressed by how well the Bronco Raptor handled off-road, both when driving fast over rough terrain and when crawling slowly through rocky passes with the low-range gearing engaged. Even though the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 doesn’t have as much power as the F-150 Raptor’s boosted 3.5-liter, it still had enough power at our test track to hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA says that the Ford Bronco Raptor gets 15 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on the highway. That is the same as the estimated mpg for the F-150 Raptor with 35-inch tires in the city, but it is 2 mpg less than what the big pickup gets on the highway.

Compared to the 4.7-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 Jeep Wrangler 392, the Bronco Raptor is only 2 mpg better in the city and 1 mpg worse on the highway. On our 75 mph highway fuel-efficiency test route, the Bronco Raptor surprised us by getting 17 mpg, which was 1 mpg more than we expected, but it still drank a lot of gas.

Cargo, Interior, and Comfort

2023 ford bronco raptor interior
Even though the Bronco Raptor has a wider stance and bigger, flared fenders to make it better off-road, it still has the same size and shape inside as the regular Bronco. That means it comes standard with rubberized flooring, marine-grade vinyl upholstery, and an overhead set of auxiliary toggles.

If you want a more luxurious cabin, you can choose seats with leather trim. Like the regular Bronco, the Raptor has body panels that can be taken off. It also has frameless doors that Ford says are easy to take apart.

Even though it only comes with four doors, the Raptor still has all the cool features that come with other Bronco models, like exterior mirrors that are attached to the bottom of the windshield and can be used even when the doors are off.

In the same way, there is a rack built into the top of the dashboard that can hold smartphones and GoPros that can be plugged into nearby 12-volt outlets.

Entertainment and staying in touch

The Bronco Raptor comes with Ford’s newest interface, Sync 4, which has a big 12.0-inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard. Modern features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are built into the infotainment system. A powerful Bang & Olufsen sound system is also one of the best options.

Features for Safety and Helping the Driver

Ford’s CoPilot 360 driver-assistance technology comes standard on the Bronco Raptor. This includes basic features like automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. You can choose to have adaptive cruise control. Visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) to learn more about how the Bronco Raptor did in crash tests. Likely to be important safety features are:

  • Standard forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking
  • Standard lane-keeping assist and lane-departure warning
  • Available adaptive cruise control

Coverage for Warranty and Maintenance
