2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited Review, Pricing, and Specs

The Palisade has been a big hit for 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited because it has a nice interior, a smooth ride, and enough room for the whole family.

The base model of the brand’s largest SUV is a good deal, but the Calligraphy model is the best way to see what a Genesis GV80 is all about.

The Palisade is powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 engine with 291 horsepower and an automatic transmission with eight speeds.
All models come with a lot of options for communication and technology, and the higher-end ones get extras like a panoramic sunroof, in-dash navigation, and quilted leather upholstery.

No matter what trim level you choose, the Palisade’s cabin is large and comfortable enough for the whole family.

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited comes with an automatic eight-speed transmission and a 3.8-liter V-6 engine. For a car this size, the 291 horsepower engine provides enough speed. The Palisade’s transmission can be changed by hand with paddles on the steering wheel. When going up hills, the gearbox shifts smoothly on its own, but there is some jerky shuffling of the gears.

Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is an option on the SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels. It’s standard on the Calligraphy.

All Palisade models come with a cooler for the gearbox, wiring for a trailer, and sway control as standard features. With the caravan hitch installed by the dealer, it can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Our test drive in an all-out Calligraphy model in Asheville, North Carolina, showed us how smooth and quiet the Palisade is. We even did a little off-roading and were happy to see that the big SUV can handle terrain other than that found in the city.

At our test track, an all-wheel-drive SEL’s acceleration wasn’t anything special. During our tests, it took the Palisade 6.9 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, and it took 182 feet to stop from 70 mph. It moved faster than the Telluride but slower than the Chevrolet Traverse.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

The SE and SEL trims have room for eight people, but the Limited and Calligraphy have captain’s chairs in the second row, which means they can only hold seven people.

In either case, there is plenty of room for people in all three rows. There’s a button in the second row that moves the seat forward, making it easy to get to the third row. The doors block out most of the noise from the road, but a lot of wind noise gets in.

Seats in the second and third rows that fold down automatically are an option on the SEL and come standard on the Limited and Calligraphy. When all the seats are folded down, the Palisade has 86 cubic feet of space for cargo. In our tests, 33 carry-on suitcases fit inside.

With the second row up and the third row folded, there is 46 cubic feet of space. When the third row is added, the volume goes down to a small 18 cubes. There is room under the load floor to store things that are dirty or wet. The door pockets aren’t very big, but there’s a good amount of storage in the centre console and below it.

What’s Coming in 2023?

2023 Hyundai Palisade First Drive Review

For the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited model year, the Palisade gets a facelift that makes it look more squared off. The new look is helped by new designs for the wheels and some new features inside.

The Palisade’s dashboard has a 12.0-inch infotainment screen with a higher resolution, a new steering wheel, and updated upholstery options. There is now a Wi-Fi hotspot, heated third-row seats, and a driver’s seat that massages.

A new XRT model with a rugged look and 20-inch wheels, blacked-out exterior trim, and other design details has been added to the lineup. The Palisade’s biggest rival has always been the Kia Telluride, which is mechanically similar to the Palisade. However, the Telluride is also getting a makeover this year, so the competition is likely to continue.

The engine, the transmission, and how it works

The Palisade has a 3.8-liter V-6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. With 291 horsepower, the engine is fast enough for a vehicle like this.

The Palisade’s transmission can be changed by hand using paddles on the steering wheel. The gearbox changes gears smoothly on its own, but when going up hills, it changes gears quickly.

All-wheel drive is optional on the SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels, but it comes standard on the top-of-the-line Calligraphy. Front-wheel drive is standard. All Palisade models come with a transmission cooler, pre-wiring for a trailer, and sway control as standard features.

When the trailer hitch is put on by the dealer, it can pull up to 5,000 pounds. We took a loaded Calligraphy model around Asheville, North Carolina, to test out the Palisade’s smooth ride and quiet cabin.  also did some light off-roading to make sure the big SUV could handle terrain other than what you’ll find in the city.

We tested an all-wheel-drive SEL at our test track, and its acceleration wasn’t anything special. In our tests, it took our all-wheel-drive XRT test vehicle 6.4 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, and it took 161 feet to stop from 70 mph.

Fuel Economy

The EPA says that the Palisade with front-wheel drive gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. When the Palisade has all-wheel drive, it gets 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

Our all-wheel-drive SEL model only got 23 mpg on our 200-mile highway test route, even though it was rated for 24 mpg. Visit the EPA’s website to learn more about the Palisade’s gas mileage.

Entertainment and staying in touch

All trims come standard with a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. There are up to seven USB ports, and you can connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time. When the Palisade is equipped with Hyundai’s Blue Link app service, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant can be used to lock, unlock, and start the car from afar.

Features for Safety and Helping the Driver

Nearly every advanced safety system can be added to higher trim levels, on top of what comes standard. Visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) to learn more about how the Palisade did in crash tests. Some important safety features are:

  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection comes as standard.
  • Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode

Coverage for Warranty and Maintenance

Hyundai has one of the best warranties in the business. The powertrain is covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles for the first owner of the car. The company also now offers free scheduled maintenance, which is better than major competitors like Toyota.

  • Five years or 60,000 miles are covered by the limited warranty.
  • The warranty on the powertrain lasts for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
  • Maintenance is free for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
