Ford’s 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is a version of its famous muscle car that turns everything up to 11. This version of the seventh-generation Mustang has a powerful 5.0-liter engine that makes 500 horsepower. It’s made for speed, and track fans will love it.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will go on sale in the second half of 2023. It will cost $57,970, which is less than its competitors and the Chevy Corvette Stingray. Many people who want to buy a sports car or muscle car with a good price-to-power ratio will be attracted by the lower price. Since it looks good, feels good, and can go fast, Ford should make a lot of money off of it.

The cheapest 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray costs $65,895, and the most expensive version, the 3LT, costs $77,845—at least $8,000 more than the base model. Still, the Corvette Stingray is a good car because it can handle the track well and has a luxurious feel. But when the Dark Horse comes out, there will be more competition between the two, because who wouldn’t want a cheap supercar killer?


The new 2024 Ford Mustang looks great, like a pair of carbon-fiber dancing shoes. Ford said today that when the Dark Horse performance model goes on sale later this year, it will come with a carbon wheel option.

Ford says that each of the light wheels weighs 20,1 pounds, which makes them about 37 percent lighter than the Dark Horse aluminium wheels.

They were made with the help of Carbon Revolution, and they are similar to the carbon-fiber wheels that Ford had on the GT supercar and the Mustang Shelby GT350R before.

Carbon Revolution used a plasma arc spray inside the front wheels to protect them from the high temperatures caused by braking. This technology was inspired by aerospace engineering.

At the front, the wheels have 305/30R-19 Trofeo RS performance tyres, and at the back, they have 315/30R-19 tyres. The exterior of this Mustang Dark Horse is also painted a special colour called Blue Ember, which is said to change colours in different lighting.

Ford also showed us the Dark Horse’s unique interior trim for the first time. It goes with the fancy wheels and unique colour. The moody cabin is filled with different shades of black and blue.

The steering wheel, door panels, shift boot, and Recaro performance seats all have bright Indigo Blue stitching. If you choose the Dark Horse Appearance package, the seat backs and seat belts will have a Deep Indigo Blue finish to match the rest of the interior.

The new anodized blue titanium manual shift knob is the heart of the Mustang Dark Horse’s interior. The hollow six-speed knob makes it lighter and better able to stay cool in hot weather.

Mustang Dark Horse has a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in performance suede for better grip. Bright Indigo Blue stitching adds detail to the instrument and door panels, seats, gear shift boot, and centre console trim and lid.

The sport-shaped steering wheel has buttons that let you control things like the vehicle’s drive mode, the instrument cluster, and the 13.2-inch SYNC® 4 centre stack, which is elegantly angled towards the driver and hidden behind a single piece of glass.

The available electronic drift brake* is the first of its kind. It is wrapped in leather and has a precise-action anodized lever that lets the driver easily lock the rear wheels in track mode to move sideways.

More speed equals light, strong rims

The Dark Horse is the first performance version of the Mustang in more than 20 years. Ford gave it carbon fibre wheels, which are usually found on expensive supercars.

Ford says that this is the first time that a Mustang other than the Shelby GT350 and GT500 (which stopped being made in 2020 and 2022, respectively) has had carbon fibre wheels. They look great on the Dark Horse.

For the 19-inch wheels, Ford worked with an Australian company called Carbon Revolution. This is the first time the company has used single-piece carbon-fiber wheels with five spokes.

Each of these carbon fibre wheels weighs a little more than 20 pounds, which is about 37 percent less than the standard aluminium wheels on the Dark Horse.

Since less overall weight makes a car go faster, the wheels make the Mustang faster.

Carbon fibre is a polymer, which is a type of material made of chains of molecules that repeat over and over again. It is very strong and light, which is why race car builders and companies that make supercars use it a lot.

It’s also expensive, so car companies like McLaren put a lot of money into making carbon fibre tubs, which are like the frames of their cars.

In fact, the British company spent more than $50 million to build the McLaren Composites Technology Center. Its goal was to make carbon fibre and composites that are lightweight to save weight and make cars that use less energy.

Carbon Revolution used a process called “plasma arc spray” to protect the inside of the front wheels from the heat of the brakes. The plasma arc spray process is used on open-wheel race cars to make them last longer. It comes from aerospace technology, where it is often used on turbine engine blades.

“A plasma flame spraying machine is fed powdered materials like metals and ceramics to do plasma spraying,” says Ashley Denmead, founder and chief technology officer of Carbon Revolution.

“The process uses very high temperatures to melt the powder, which is then sprayed onto the part to be coated. When the molten powder hits the target, it cools down and turns back into solid powder.

The wheels have a coating made of many layers of different materials. The result is a coating that reflects the heat from the brakes and keeps it from getting into the wheel while keeping the weight down.

Through this process, wheels are made that are good for driving fast and stopping hard. Ford’s Dark Horse wheels were put through a lot of tests. Carbon Revolution says that it follows Ford’s strict testing guidelines for wheels, which include more than 200 tests to check the structure and environment.

For better engine output, the Dark Horse’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 uses piston connection rods from the Shelby GT500, an auxiliary air cooler, a lighter radiator, and faster cooling fans. For precise gear changes, the V8 can be equipped with either a six-speed TREMEC manual gearbox or a 10-speed automatic torque converter.

These settings will give you 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque, which will give you shocking acceleration when hauled. Ford hasn’t said much about how fast the Dark can go, but we think it will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5–3.8 seconds.

The 6.2-liter LT2 V8 gives the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 490 horsepower, which is 10 horsepower less than the latter. But the Stingray is faster because its body is lighter and more aerodynamically advanced. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

Still, the Dark Horse’s manual gearbox will make a lot of Corvette fans want to buy it. Fans will also love the new V8 engine, which has a lot of power and can be easily improved to make it even better.

Ford’s most track-ready muscle car will be the Mustang Dark Horse.

Dark Horse is the newest top-of-the-line Mustang, and it has the best performance-grade features for speed on the track. Its unique chassis tuning includes larger sway bars, stronger and more responsive shocks, big brakes, and a TORSEN limited-slip rear axle. Ford released the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse as one of six racing Mustangs that will compete in GT3, GT4, NASCAR, and NHRA Factory X races. There will be two versions of the Mustang Dark Horse that can only be driven on the track: the Mustang Dark Horse S for weekend driving and the Mustang Dark Horse R for racing.

The Mustang Dark Horse S is a stripped-down version of the street-legal model. It has an upgraded brake system, multimatic DSSV dampers, an adjustable rear wing, rear tow hooks, safety nets, a full FIA-certified safety cage, a race steering wheel with quick connect, a race seat with safety belts, a single optional passenger seat, electrical safety disconnects, and a fire suppression system.

In addition to everything in the Mustang Dark Horse S, the Mustang Dark Horse R has a unique serial number for racing, a fuel cell for a longer range, seams that are welded in a specific way, and Ford Performance Parts wheels.
